What is in SteMixx?

• The MSDS shows the active ingredient is HSCM, but exactly what is that?
  • As disclosed on the MSDS, HSCM is an abbreviation for Human Stem Cell Conditioned Media. A supplementary meaning of this is "Human Stem Cell Conditioned Media Extract which are created and secreted proteins during the culture of Stem Cells derived from the Human Umbilical Cord Blood.
    
    HCSM is an officially listed cosmetic ingredient name for CMSP (see below), classified and registered by the Personal Care Products Council (PCPC). This US cosmetics products association was formerly known as the Cosmetic, Toiletry and Fragrance Association (CTFA), and is located in Washington DC.
    
    HSCM is registered in the International Cosmetics Ingredients Directory (ICID) according to the International Nomenclature for Cosmetic Ingredients (INCI) as an ingredient for cosmetic products - This directory is published by PCPC.
    
    HSCM (or CMSP) is human body compatible proteins which are secreted by stem cells derived from the human umbilical cord blood. (See below for a table of these major proteins). HSCM is defined in the INCI as "Human Umbilical Cord Blood Cell Conditioned Media Extract”
    
    
• What does CMSP stand for?
  • CMSP is a trade name for Cord Blood Multipotent Stem Cell Driven Proteins. . The names of HSCM and CMSP actually refer to the same materials and both of these are already listed in the ICID. CMSP is manufactured by a professional cosmetics company with approved GMP facilities.
    
    
• From what source is the HSCM derived?
  • HSCM is secreted proteins during the culture of stem cells which are derived from human umbilical cord blood (UCB) after the baby is born, and with the mother’s informed, documented consent. This is a non-controversial source. The UCB is collected and stored by the world’s largest fully accredited Cord Blood Bank.
    
    
• Has it been tested for pathogens before its release?
  • As part of accredited Good Laboratory Practice (GLP), UCB cells are completely controlled and checked to be free from potential pathogenic risks before the cryo-preservation process.
    
    In addition, the UCB cells must pass various examinations for microorganisms (Syphills test, HCV, HIV, HBsAg, CMVIgM, HTLV etc.) and asepsis tests (aerobic/anaerobic bacteria examinations). Through these processes, only UCB cells which are finally passed as "Appropriate to use" are preserved for future use. In accordance with these processes, the main ingredient of our stem cell cream – HSCM – is born. (The actual UCB cells are never included in the HSCM.)

  • Secreted HCSM proteins are not active in the biological sense, and are not claimed to have any action that could be construed as a drug.

How does SteMixx work?

• What is the nature of its benefits?
  • SteMixx helps to recover the function of the stem cell and vitalizes the natural fibroblasts of the skin. As the process of aging occurs, skin elasticity declines, wrinkles increase, and pigment in the skin changes. This is due to a decrease in the number of stem cells in the human body with less ability to activate or divide into skin cells.
    
    During the culture of stem cells, various proteins (cytokines) are created and secreted. These major cytokines include: IGF-1, IGF-2, EGF, IL-8, M-CSF, MCP-1, RANTES, MIP-1α, IP-10, IGFBP-1,2,5 , PDGF,SCF, FGF and Collagens.
    
    These cytokines play very important roles for cell activation and regeneration of the human skin and body. Because of the various proteins that Stem Cells secrete, they have incredible skin regeneration & recovery functions for human skin including effects of more elastic skin, reducing wrinkles, and even a skin whitening effect.

• What is the regulatory status of this product?
  • In the US, we do not need such approval unless it is classified as a drug or functional cosmetic. Presently, if an ingredient is enlisted in the ICID as a cosmetic ingredient, we can use it as a raw material for cosmetics without problems… as long as it is not claimed to alter the functions of the body.
    
    
• What information is available for Customs when this is shipped internationally?
  • AmStem International is registering as a Cosmetics Importer with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, and can provide an MSDS as required by Customs at the point of entry.
    
    
• What manufacturing Quality Controls are in place?
  • The manufacturer of SteMixx is GMP certified by the Korea Cosmetic Association, and verified to be in compliance with QMI Quality Management Systems Regulations of IS0 9001/2000.
    
    
• How is SteMixx supplied?
  • SteMixx Facial Cream comes in a 10-day supply (will last longer if you need to use less). Each box comes with 5 plunger-style applicators, which allow precise delivery of the product with minimal waste.
